The reigning champions of Germany announced the news on Sunday evening, with the team having suffered a humbling 5-1 loss to Kovac’s former club Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend.

The Croatian leaves the club fourth in the Bundesliga standings having notched five wins out of the opening ten matches of the season and sitting four points adrift of early pace setters Borussia Monchengladbach.

He was only appointed last summer, replacing Jupp Heynckes at the Allianz Arena. Under Kovac, Bayern won the Bundesliga title, as well as a DFB Pokal and a Super Pokal. The 48-year-old also managed to accumulate a relatively respectable 69% win percentage whilst in charge of the club.
